This week in my Book of Mormon class, Brother Griffin stated something that has since stuck with me. I recognize that ever since we were little kids we hear the phrase, "Jesus died for me." While this is definitely important and good to remember, Brother Griffin takes on a different approach. Instead of thinking, "Jesus died for me", he told us that he thinks, "Jesus chose to live for me." Wow. Our Savior, when in the Garden of Gethsemane, bled from every pore and suffered for our sins and transgressions-- every single one of us. And although He could have given up and chose not to save us, He and our Father in Heaven love us so much that he continued until every single sin was atoned for. In Alma chapter 32 of the Book of Mormon, Alma speaks about faith. He compares faith to a seed. He speaks about how if we have but a particle of faith, we can let this desire work in us until we believe these things are true. My dear brothers and sisters, we must have room in our hearts to plant a good seed. We must clear the bad seeds that will grow "weeds". These are the seeds which are full of fear, doubt, and pride that will kill or overwhelm our good seed of faith. If we just "give place" (vs. 28) for this hope or good seed to be planted in our heart, and soften our hearts and humble ourselves before God, we shall come to know our Savior and find everlasting happiness in this life. I know this to be true with all of my heart and mind. I know our dear Savior lives, and that He loves each and every one of you. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Happy Friday Everyone!
