BUT. These are years not to be forgotten, or rushed through, but to be enjoyed and cherished forever for every single person.
Here are a few things I have learned from high school and that have helped me and other people I know be successful and have a bomb diggity time in high school:
1. Get involved.
Jump in! No matter if it's through sports, clubs, Student Government, music, the arts-- I encourage all to DO SOMETHING! Not only will it help keep you out of trouble, but it will help you meet new people that you otherwise might not. And when you give to your school, it gives back to you.
These are the years you are part of something great. A school-- with a mascot, school colors, TONS of people to get to know-- so be a part of it! Show school spirit. Support the other clubs/people at your school. People will respect you for it, your SCHOOL will respect you and benefit more from it, and YOU will be happy for that time to embrace and relax.
One of the best ways to get through high school is by GOING to it! Ultimately when you attend each day, you can learn the things you need, get help if you need it, and not be struggling to catch up or make up constantly just to get by.
4. Plan a track before you start.
Before your freshman year, figure out how many credits you need to graduate, and what you would like to graduate with (Honors, and NHS stole, etc.). Keep these goals in mind and start right away-- it'll make your Senior year much more enjoyable! :)
5. Work hard, don't give up, and ENJOY, ENJOY, ENJOY!
Meet new people, get out of your comfort zone, go above and beyond-- these years will determine much of what your future will hold for you! YOU have the power to shape and mold that into what you would like. And it's never too late to change! Make an ultimate effort to make high school the best it can be for yourself and for others and ta da!
I can't promise you that it'll be easy, but I can promise you one thing:
IT'LL BE WORTH IT.
